Streaming services have been a rage for a good while now. They have introduced viewers to the concept of customized entertainment at their preferred time, place, and screen like never before. And viewers are now addicted. Some huge names in the world of streaming are Netflix, Paramount+, Hulu, and so on.

Streaming giants have given a very tough competition to conventional cable TV services. Providers like Spectrum TV have tried their level best to incorporate innovative features in their services such as DVR, on-demand TV, and so on. But it’s hard to compete with the level of customization that streaming services offer.

Paramount Plus is one of these amazing streaming services. Let’s know more.

A Word about Paramount+

Paramount+ is one of these trending, over-the-top streaming services. It offers some incredible original as well as library content from Paramount Pictures library, Viacom CBS Media Network, and CBS Entertainment Group. That means it offers movies and shows in various languages. For instance, nowadays, Spanish content is particularly popular. And if the captions are closed or titles are disabled on Paramount Plus, then it’s not possible to understand it for English speakers.

Similarly, if you are a native English speaker and you are watching an English movie, you don’t really need to read the subtitles. Unless you want to mute it. In that case, you should know how to disable the subtitles.

In this blog post, we are going to help you with enabling and disabling subtitles on Paramount Plus for various devices

On Amazon Fire Stick or Fire TV

Enabling or disabling subtitles on Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV is fairly easy. Simply launch the Paramount+ app and play any movie or show. Tap the Menu button. You will find the Subtitles and Audio section. From here, you can enable or disable the subtitles and you are good to go!

On a Roku Device

Just like Fire Stick and Fire TV, enabling or disabling subtitles on Paramount+ on Roku is also super easy. However, if you use Roku on multiple devices, you will have to go through these steps on each one of them separately. You begin with playing the content you want to watch.

  • Tap the asterisk button on your remote
  • In the side menu, you will find closed captioning options somewhere on the top
  • If subtitles are disabled, you can enable them from here
  • If they are enabled and you want to disable them, simply tap the option “Don’t show closed captioning”
  • You can further go for one of the four options – On Mute, On Always, On Replay, or Off

On iPhone or Android

The Paramount+ App has more or less the same interface on both, iOS and Android devices. Therefore, instructions for both the operating systems are pretty much the same. Here are the simple steps:

  • Open the Paramount Plus app
  • Tap on the three horizontal lines or the hamburger icon
  • Go inside the More Menu and choose Settings
  • Go to the Closed Captions
  • Just follow the instructions on the screen and turn the subtitles on or off
  • You can also choose various display preferences
  • Play a movie or show and touch the screen to see the sub-menu
  • Tap Settings and toggle the captions on

As long as you use the same account, these settings will apply to all your Android or iOS devices.

On Mac or PC

Want to watch Paramount+ via a browser? It has an impressive web client. Again, the interface of the browser for both Mac and PC is the same. Therefore, similar instructions will apply to both.

Launch the browser you prefer and log in to your Paramount+ account. Choose the movie or show that you want to watch and play it. When the playback starts, pause it and tap the CC icon that appears on the screen. From here, the pop-up menu will allow you to enable or disable the captions.

Furthermore, you can also change the display settings according to your preferences. The changes that you make will apply immediately on the screen.

On a Smart TV

On any Smart TV, turning subtitles off or on is pretty much the same as it is on a web client. The moment you hit pause during the playback, the CC icon will instantly pop up. All you need to do is to navigate it, follow the super-easy instructions, and enable the subtitles

Changing the Subtitle Language

The subtitles on Paramount+ are by default in English. However, if you don’t understand English, you can change it to a different language. To make these changes, you need to go to the CC menu, pause the playback, and navigate to the language options. From there you can choose the input you want.

However, the languages may vary according to the content that you decide to watch.
