On February 2, Shakira was born in the beautiful city of Colombia in 1977. Born to parents William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado, she has 8 siblings, including Tonino, Lucy, Antonio, and Alberto Mebarak. Shakira was raised in Barranquilla, a city by the ocean. When she was small, she wrote a poem named “The Crystal Rose.” She liked observing her dad write novels and got a typewriter for Christmas when she was 7. Now, she writes music lyrics rather than poems.
When Shakira was 4, her father took her to a cafe where she listened to an amazing drum and saw belly dancing. She loved it and liked to be an entertainer.
