Daniel Andrews began his career as an electorate officer for a federal labor MP named Alan Griffin. He worked as one from 1999 to 2002, at the party headquarters. In 2002, he became a member of the legislative assembly, fromMulgrave. He entered into the Bracks ministry in 2006, becoming the minister for consumer affairs. He remained as one till August 2007. From 2010 to 2014, he was made the leader of the opposition in Victoria, which was quite a big increment. The same year, he was appointed as the 17th leader of a labor party in Victoria.
