Before becoming a political journalist, Todd earned political knowledge by serving on campaigns in Florida and Washington, D.C. In 1992, he also served on Senator Tom Harkin’s presidential campaign while in university. Afterward, he began working part-time at the National Journal’s The Hotline.
Additional professional ventures
Todd teaches at Johns Hopkins University. He wrote a textbook regarding Barack Obama named The Stranger: Barack Obama in the White House, which was printed in 2014. The Chicago Tribune said it had lots of data, and Publishers Weekly said it was fair and detailed. Todd also wrote another textbook with Sheldon Gawiser about how Obama succeeded in the 2008 election.

Todd and his spouse, Kristian Denny Todd, reside in Arlington, Virginia, with their 2 kids. Kristian served in communications and helped start Maverick Strategies and Mail, a firm that helps Democratic candidates with mail and advice. Despite being Christian herself, they are raising their kids as Jewish.

After Tim Russert’s death in June 2008, Chuck Todd was a candidate to replace him as the host of NBC’s Meet the Press, but David Gregory was ultimately selected for the job.On August 14, 2014,NBC announced that Chuck Todd would take over as the host of Meet the Press beginning September 7, 2014.
