Elizabeth Warren was born Elizabeth Ann Herring in Oklahoma City on June 22, 1949. Elizabeth Warren lived in Norman, Oklahoma, until she was 11 years old when her family moved back to Oklahoma City. Elizabeth Warren became a star member of the debate team at Northwest Classen High School and won the state high school debating championship. The Warrens divorced in 1978, and two years later, Warren married law professor Bruce H. Mann on July 12, 1980,[31] but kept her first husband's surname.
Elizabeth Warren began her career in academia as a lecturer at Rutgers University, Newark School of Law (1977–78). Elizabeth Warren's earliest academic work was heavily influenced by the law and economics movement, which aimed to apply neoclassical economic theory to the study of law with an emphasis on economic efficiency. Elizabeth Warren joined the University of Pennsylvania Law School as a full professor in 1987 and obtained an endowed chair in 1990, becoming the William A. Schnader Professor of Commercial Law.
On November 14, 2008, U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid appointed Elizabeth Warren to chair the five-member Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the implementation of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act.

On June 22, Warren was born in Oklahoma City in 1949. She is the 4th kid of Donald Jones Herring, a U.S. Army flight instructor during World War II, and Pauline Louise Reed, a housewife. Both of her parents were members of the evangelical unit of the Protestant Methodist Church.
Warren has told her early family life as being on the edge of the middle class. Warren lived in Norman, Oklahoma, until she was 11. Then, her family shifted back to Oklahoma City.
When she was 12, her dad had a heart attack and couldn't serve as a salesman anymore. He began performing as a maintenance man.
