Frequently Asked Questions for CPT Exam Forms June 2019

1. How do I register for filling the application form on-line for June, 2019 CPT

The steps involved in on-line registration are detailed on the home page of icaiexam.icai.org under the “CPT June 2019 Exam Details” “How to register” and “Help on Applying for Exams”. Students may note that under this portal, the login once created from Dec 2016 onwards exam cycle onwards for a given Student Registration Number continues for that student till they pass out of Final exam. Students are advised to change the password and take control of this SingleSignOn for various activities offered under this portal.

2. Do I need an email address for filling in an on-line application

Yes, since the same is required for informing your user-id and password to you for filling up the on-line examination application form. It will also be useful for receiving e-mail updates/alerts relating to the CPT exam from the Exam Department of ICAI. Make sure that you fill the correct and active e-mail ID( without any typographical errors), as all communications from ICAI including your user ID and password will be sent to the primary email ID that you enter.

3. Can I use my friend’s email ID?

No, we strongly recommend that you should have your own email ID so that you can send/receive communication/s in a quick, secure, cost effective and eco-friendly manner.

4. Can I apply for an exam without verifying email id and / or mobile no?

Yes, but you should verify them later. There is a declaration in the “Apply & Track Your Application” section for email id and mobile number. You can agree to it and proceed to apply for the exam by clicking “Not Now”. But we strongly recommend that you verify both your primary email id and mobile number against your registration before you proceed. This will ensure that all electronic communications from ICAI exams reach you.

5. Can I start filling in the on-line exam form now and complete the same later?

Yes, you can do so, until you make successful payment but after that stage you cannot make any changes.

7. I am already registered with ICAI in the on-line exam registration portal, when I applied for an earlier attempt. Can I use the same log-in ID and password this time?

Yes, In case you registered here from the last exam cycles (ie; CPT-December-2016 onwards), you will have to use the same log-in ID and password which is your SingleSignOn till you pass out of Final exam.

9. I am not able to login and fill up the form even after getting the log-in ID and password.

  • Check the opening page to see if there are messages or alerts that inform you that the on-line Exam Forms system is temporarily unavailable.
  • Check that you are using the correct log-in ID and password to access your account.
  • Check your acknowledgement e-mail for your log-in ID and password to ensure that you are using the correct one.
  • Clear the Temporary Internet files and cookies and restart the system.
  • Try from some other system.

In case the problem persists, you may get in touch with the Help Desk, contact details of which are given at the end of the FAQs.

10. While creating the user ID, I am directed to submit a provisional application? Why is it so?

Your identity as a student of ICAI is validated through your ten digit registration number ( like NRO0123456) , name of the course for which you are presently registered and your date of birth that you had entered while creating the user ID. If these fields do not match with that in the Institute’s database, you would be admitted on Provisional basis.

Hence, please ensure that you fill in your student registration number exactly as per the registration letter sent to you. You may keep a copy of the letter from Board of Studies, ICAI registering you as a student of ICAI ready, so that you can fill your registration number correctly.

Also ensure that you fill in your date of birth, as per the documents submitted by you to the Institute at the time of registration.

In case your details do not match with our records, we shall still issue the user ID and password. However, you will be permitted to submit a provisional application, subject to submission/verification of documentary evidence, i.e. your copy of your registration letter indicating your registration number and date of registration to Common Proficiency Course.

Some of the errors committed by candidates while filling the on-line forms are as follows:

  • Your unique student registration number typed on the on-line registration form may be different from the one that is communicated to you by the Board of Studies of the Institute.
  • The date of birth you enter in the form may be different from the date of birth on the records of the Institute.

You can continue to fill up the form on provisional basis as under:

You will see the system message “Registration No. and Date of Birth you have entered doesn’t match with our records. However you may submit the details as Provisional Candidate. The system will allot a unique Provisional Registration Number (PRCxxxxxxx) for this exam cycle. Please refer FAQs on Exam Forms FAQ for CPT for details about Provisional Registration

Under this message you will find a check-box with the words “YES. Register me as Provisional Candidate”

Click on this box and then in the box against the words “Registration Number as per your Records” enter the registration number received by you from the regional office taking care that the first three characters are alphabets and the remaining seven are digits.

After submission of other details ie; email-id and mobile number against this combination of name and date of birth, the system will display a system generated log-in ID having 3 alphabets “PRC” with a 7 digit numeric suffix only for the purpose of submission of provisional application for CPT exam. You can log in using these details to fill your exam form online.

The registration will be provisional. The office will try to regularise the registration with the help of particulars provided by you and will bother you only in case it remains unresolved at our end.

In case you receive the registration number after filling the on-line exam form, you may send a scanned copy of your registration letter by email at cpt_exam@icai.in

Please do read the Guidance Notes to satisfy yourself about the eligibility conditions.

They will respond via email as soon as possible ( and within one working day). Please note that the Technical Help Desk can only answer technical questions; they cannot answer questions related to the exam, eligibility etc.

13. I logged into my application and found that all the information I had previously entered is gone. What should I do?

14. What is this Declaration I have to upload? Is it necessary to upload the Declaration?

The Declaration is a signed and attested undertaking that needs to be uploaded onto the portal by the students without which the system will not accept the form. This is required for avoiding the wastage of paper and saving unnecessary postage related expenses to the students.

15. Where is the format of the Declaration available?

It is available under “CPT-June, 2019 Exam Details” box.

16. Can I change my profile details after I started applying for an exam?

20. I filled the on-line form and also paid the exam fees. However, when I saw the credit card/bank statement, I realized that the amount of the exam fees has been debited more than once in my account. It appears that I might have paid the exam fees more than once. Can I get a refund of the excess amount paid by me? What is the procedure for claiming the excess exam fee payment on account of multiple payments/lost transactions etc?

Multiple payments received , if any, for a single student (with same registration number), will be identified by the system and are refunded to the credit of the respective accounts from where they originated, by the office, within 21 days of the last date for submission of forms

In case you have made payment of exam fees more than once which is received by us for the same student registration number and you do not get a refund within 21 days from the last date for submission of forms, you can claim a refund of the excess amount paid by you, by writing to us within 30 days from the last date for submission of forms, along with documentary evidence, such as bank/credit card statement, of having paid the exam fees more than once. ICAI will verify the same and refund the excess amount, if any, paid by you.

21. There are “###########/@@@@@@” marks in red appearing on the top of my PDF but they are not appearing in my friend’s PDF. Why?

The “##########/@@@@@@” marks are for internal office use only. You need not worry about the same.

22. Can I change the particulars (such as centre opted, medium opted) after submission of the on-line form?

No. Change of centre or medium is not permitted at this stage. Hence, it is suggested that you may check carefully in the preview page whether the details filled in by you are correct. Before you proceed to make on-line payment and submit the on-line form. You are also advised to keep a copy of the on-line form submitted by you, for your record, in your own interest.
